NUTRITION REVIEW COURSES – CBNS
The Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists and the American College of Nutrition are pleased to announce a Review Course on the Fundamentals of Nutrition. The course is designed to assist in preparation for the CBNS certifying examination and is structured around the CBNS Study Guide. In addition, the course provides all health care professionals with the opportunity to renew their familiarity with the fundamental and applied science upon which the field of nutrition is built.
The course is being offered in 2 versions.
The Review Course will cover topics such as:
- Alimentary and Digestive Anatomy & Physiology
- Biology of Individual Nutrients
- Nutrient Standards and Food Guides
- Impact of the Life Cycle on Nutritional Requirements
- Nutritional and Metabolic Disorders
- CME/CNE credits (up to 20), will be awarded for successful completion of the course
An additional half-day pre-course workshop will review the more fundamental topics of:
- Basic Organic Chemistry and Nutritional Biochemistry
- Introduction to Understanding Data
- Food Safety
Up to 4 CME/CNE credits will be awarded for successful completion of the pre-course workshop.
The American College of Nutrition is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians, designates this continuing medical education activity for a maximum of 24 CME credit hours.
The Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists (CBNS) authorizes a maximum of 24 CNE credit hours for Certified Nutrition Specialists (CNS).

Exit airport toward Chicago, Take exit on right for Westbound tollway (toward Milwaukee ) , Take westbound tollway to exit for Dempster Avenue , Take Dempster Avenue east to Evanston, At Dodge Avenue , turn right (south), Proceed past Main Street and Oakton Avenue ; the Levy Senior Center will be on the right just past the school. Turn into the drive and park anywhere in the lot. The Review Course will be held in the “Locust Room.”

The tuition fee for the pre-course workshop is $125.00 and for the 2-day review course, $500.00. The tuition fee for the 2-day workshop includes a copy of the Third Edition CBNS Study Guide. Members/Fellows of the ACN will receive a 20% discount on both tuition fees. Health care professionals also electing to sit for the CBNS certifying examination on October 1, 2004 will receive a $50.00 discount from the examination fee.
